These details matter because they affect how the item stores, carries, and fits into outdoor routines. The source lists an aluminium alloy shell, plastic, kerosene, and magnet components, plus a folded size of 77x58x28mm and a weight of 55g.

Material and Build

The outer shell is made from aluminium alloy, which forms the housing for the compass. Plastic is also listed as part of the construction. Inside, the source states that kerosene and a magnet are used. These are the only material details provided. No further information is given about impact resistance, water resistance, or lens coating, so no claims are made about those points. The combination of aluminium alloy and plastic gives the compass a stated material mix that is suited to a folding pocket instrument.

Size and Practical Fit

When opened, the compass measures 146x58X28mm. When folded, it measures 77x58x28mm. That folded length of 77mm makes it easier to fit into a pocket, pouch, or small kit bag than a fixed open compass. The open length of 146mm provides a larger area for holding and viewing. At 55g, it is light enough to carry alongside other outdoor items. These dimensions are taken directly from the source and no other sizes are stated.

Uses and Placement

A folding compass is typically used when walking, hiking, orienteering, or travelling in areas where a simple bearing tool is useful. The army green colour and folding design point to outdoor and field use. The source does not specify a particular activity, so the uses below are practical examples based on the product type and stated features.

Event or Professional Use

For scouting events, field training, hiking groups, and outdoor courses, a folding compass can be carried as part of a basic navigation kit. The 77x58x28mm folded size allows it to sit in a pocket or small pouch. The aluminium alloy shell gives the body a stated metal housing. The army green finish is neutral for outdoor settings. No professional accuracy grade or military certification is stated, so it should not be presented as a certified instrument.

Everyday Home Use

At home, a folding compass can be kept in a drawer, glovebox, or emergency kit for occasional direction finding. Its 55g weight and folded size make it unobtrusive. The colour box and bubble bag also give it a simple storage format. It can be used for garden planning, local walks, or teaching basic direction skills. The source does not state that it is waterproof or shockproof, so it should be stored away from heavy moisture and impact when not in use.

Benefits and Buying Value

The main value of this compass comes from its folding design, stated material mix, low weight, and compact folded size. The buying value is based on the stated construction and dimensions rather than any unsupported performance claims.

Reuse and Low Maintenance

Because the compass has a mechanical design using a magnet and kerosene as stated, it can be reused without batteries or charging. The aluminium alloy shell and plastic parts can be wiped with a soft dry cloth if needed. The source does not provide specialist care instructions, so avoid harsh chemicals and do not submerge it in water. When not in use, fold it to 77x58x28mm and return it to the bubble bag and colour box.
